Every year the guests of Borovets celebrate the 1st of March together with Pijo and Penda. 

Traditionally, they all arrive on skis and hand out martenitsas to skiers and snowboarders on the slopes of the resort. 

The first of March is one of the favourite holidays of all Bulgarians and the martenitsa is one of the most loved Bulgarian symbols.
